Lulusan Teknik Kimia dapat bekerja di Migas sebagai Process Safety Engineer, yang bertugas memastikan semua proses produksi di production/refinery plant berlangsung dengan aman. Merekalah yang mengatur letak (facility layout), mengidenfikasi area bahaya (hazardous area), memeriksa process flow, P&ID, mengkaji loss prevention seperti  fire and explosion analysis, equipment siting, overpressure protection, inherently safer design, dan terakhir kemudahan pengoperasian (operatibility).

Process Safety Engineer berbeda dengan K3/HSE Engineer, dimana HSE lebih menekankan pada behavior safety ,occupational health, industrial hygiene, safety/HSE management system, , operational safety.

Peluang karir Process Safety Engineer sangat luas, tidak saja dibutuhkan di bidang migas, tetapi juga di power plant, petrokimia, food beverage, manufacture dll.

SIL TRAINING OBJECTIVE

On Successful completion of this module the participant will be able to:

  • Learn the core concepts of fundamental SIL & application in industry
  • Understand how to modify & improve the existing control system without avoiding safety and business aspects.
  • Learn how to implement the tools of SIL based upon the IEC and the other standard a basic to control production program
  • Be able to measure the reliability of SIS outcome

LOPA TRAINING OBJECTIVE

On Successful completion of this module the participant will be able to:

  • How to establish risk acceptance (risk tolerance) criteria for use within your company (this is also called the development of ALARP criteria)
  • How to calculate “as-is” risk for a cause-consequence pair: Estimate the frequency of the initiating event and estimate consequence
  • What is meant by “independence” and “uniqueness” with respect to IPLs
  • How to use LOPA to determine the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) necessary for an instrument IPL (to comply with the requirements of IEC 61508/61511)
  • How other companies worldwide use LOPA to:
    – Decide which PHA/HAZOP recommendations to reject and which to accept
    – Focus limited resources within mechanical integrity departments and operations on what is critical to managing risk to ALARP
    – Avoid wasting resources on quantifying risk using QRA methods
    – Perform specialized risk modeling for facility siting questions
